Thailand launches new hotel booking platform as cities reopen to foreigners

Thapanee said the agency wants to support startups, especially Thailand-bound TravelTechs, by helping them compete internationally.

Location.coma new hotel booking platform backed by the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), debuted on October 1, 2021 to help accelerate the reopening of the country.

This newly launched platform is an alternative to other online travel agencies like Agoda and Traveloka. It is part of Season 2 of TAT Travel Tech Startup.

Thapanee Kiatpaiboon, TAT’s Deputy Governor of Domestic Marketing, said the agency wants to support startups, especially Thailand-bound TravelTechs, by helping them compete internationally.

What makes this platform different from others is that it takes no commission from participating hotels, and allows businesses to communicate directly with real users on the platform through posts and direct messages. . The revenue proceeds saved can then translate into additional privileges or perks offered to hotel guests, such as free airport shuttles or minibars.

The platform also supports phase 3 of the government program “We Travel Together” or “Rao Tiew Duay Gun” with 2 million eligible accounts. It started accepting reservations from October 1, 2021. Here is the link to the platform: https://location.com/
