Keswick guest house sold to new owners | Article

New owners are set to acquire Woodside Guest House, a Victorian guest house in Keswick, after it went on the market for offers of around £675,000.

The site occupies a prominent commercial position in the market town of Cumbria, in the heart of the Lake District National Park. The property includes five guest rooms, a breakfast room for 12 people, private gardens, parking and a two-bedroom independent accommodation for the owners.

Originally built in 1895 for one of Bobbin Mill’s unmarried sisters, Woodside Guest House has been in bed and breakfast operation since 2015, under the management of Jennifer and Nikos Karampatis.

After spending seven years at the helm, the owners have decided to retire to live near their family in Greece. The period guest house was acquired by Hannah Richardson and BJ (Bart-Jan) Bekker, who both worked for charity.

Richardson said: “We were looking forward to moving to Keswick to start our new business in Woodside. The magnificent property has everything we hoped for and buying it has made one of our dreams come true! We are delighted to take over the successful business created by Jennifer and Nikos and to welcome their regulars and many new guests.

Haydn Spedding, consultant to the Colliers Hotel Agency team, which managed the sale, added: “Woodside Guest House is without doubt one of the finest guest houses of its size that we have have had the pleasure of trading in Keswick for some time. I’m really looking forward to seeing how the business develops in the hands of new owners Hannah and Bart-Jan and wish them all the best for their future.

“This sale is one of many guest houses that Colliers has sold over the past 12 months. This past year has been exceptionally busy, with over 21 hotel and guest house sales to date. Keswick is particularly a high demand area for buyers, and we are looking for similar properties to put on the market.
