Homestead Inn in Greenwich changes ownership, which plans to close for renovations in winter

Scene… The Homestead Inn-Thomas Henkelmann in the Belle Haven section of Greenwich has been sold. The popular restaurant and inn which was owned and operated by Therese Carroll and Chef Thomas Henkelmann over the past 20 years is a favorite among locals and celebrities, including the actress Susan lucci and her husband chef / producer Helmut Huber. The new owners, the McDevitt Company, a real estate development and brokerage firm, and the Glazer Family Office, founders of the Inn at GrayBarns on the Silvermine River in Norwalk, have announced plans to renovate the inn, restaurant and the fields. Henkelmann and his team will continue to operate the restaurant and hostel until New Year’s Day. The property will be closed for renovation after January 1.

The low… The 60th Annual Greenwich Old Timers Athletic Association Awards Dinner will be held on November 18 at the Stamford Hilton. The event, which honors national and local athletes, will feature an all-you-can-eat cocktail, a sports raffle and a silent auction. This year’s national winners are two-time Super Bowl champion and XXV MVP Ottis Anderson and 2004 Stanley Cup Champion and Hockey Hall of Fame Member Martin Saint-Louis. Scene… NFL Network Analyst and Host Steve “Mooch” Mariucci was seen having dinner with his wife Gayle and her son at Tony’s at JHouse in Riverside Thursday night. Mariucci was the head coach of the San Francisco 49ers and the Detroit Lions. Grammy-winning rapper Lil Nas X was also seen at the popular spot, where he spent the night after performing during Rolling Loud New York at Citi Field.

The low… Children of Fallen Patriots will hold their 12th Annual Greenwich Gala, honoring those lost on September 11, at the Riverside Yacht Club on November 6. This year’s event will honor the Lieutenant General. Andrew P. Poppas with the Patriote Prize. Poppas, who serves as the Director of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, will address the room followed by words of Caitlin Rowe, a recipient of the Fallen Patriots scholarship. The low… The Greenwich YWCA’s fourth annual Women Who Inspire Awards virtual event will take place on November 11. CNN Co-Host Alisyn camerota of Westport will host the event, which recognizes outstanding women in the community who have excelled in philanthropic, professional and volunteer activities. The 2021 recipients are Wendy Block, Anna Cerra, Dr Andrea F. Douglas, Deirdre Shay Kamlani, Clarena L. Mcbeth, Elaine Ubiña, Yonni Wattenmaker, Allison J. Wolowitz and Jacqueline D. Woods. Scene… Singer John legend was seen having dinner with his wife, model Chrissy teigen, and their children Moon and Miles recently at the Italian restaurant Caputo Trattoria at Foxwoods Resort Casino in Mashantucket. The “The Voice” coach presented his “Bigger Love” tour at the station’s Premier Theater on October 16.

Celebrations … The Ridgefield Playhouse Fall Gala takes place on November 5, with a special appearance by the rock visionary and Hall of Fame inductee Joan jett and his band The Blackhearts.
