Dumaguete LGU cites accommodation and transport sectors

CITY OF DUMAGUET – The Local Government Unit (LGU) here, in conjunction with the Ministry of Tourism, on Wednesday cited a number of accommodation establishments and transport services for their invaluable assistance at the height of the coronavirus disease lockdown 2019 (Covid-19).

Plaque of appreciation recipients each include 20 hotels, inns and similar lodging establishments; six transport services; and three exceptional personalities.

Jacqueline Veloso Antonio, the town’s tourism manager, said their efforts were recognized as they were the first to respond to the local government’s call “when their services were needed and when everyone else in the same areas had already closed due to quarantine restrictions”.

Recognized lodging establishments were C&L Bayview Inn; C&L Suites Inn; Large retirement home; A place of Bethany; Southview Hotel; Bethel Guest House; Brick Hotel; Florentina houses; RM Guest House; Dumaguete Royal Suites Inn; Rovira Suites; Essencia Hotel; Hotel La Casona; Lodge of Crisfil; Optimal retirement home; Aberrise Pension Hotel; Dino Residences; Budget hotel Sulit; Casa Rubin; and Moriah Pension Inn.

They were among the first to welcome locally stranded people and overseas Filipino workers from May 2020, while the others also accepted authorized persons outside their residence (APOR) and returning Filipinos. abroad (ROF), said Antonio.

Meanwhile, those cited from the transport sector were Quantum Dlux Tour Services; Vallacar Transit, Inc.; Maayo Shipping, Inc.; Philippine airlines; Royhle Air Way Charter, Inc.; and TS Tours Services.

They facilitated the transportation of foreign visitors to exit ports; the crossing of buses and vans from here to Cebu and other exit points; organized and provided sweep flights for stranded foreigners; and provided transportation services for OFWs, ROFs, APORs and returning residents, among others, Antonio said.

Three individuals were also duly recognized – Miben Lordito Deguit of C&L Suites Inn and C&L Bayview; Amy Miro of One Bethany Place; and Maria Lalaine Ponla of Rovira Suites Inn – for her close coordination with the city’s Office of Tourism and the city’s Office of Health, representing partner hotels.
